AWANA is a worldwide children’s Bible club with an emphasis on Scripture memory and Christian living.
AWANA exists to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.

Wednesday Nights

We have started our 2025 - 2026 AWANA Club Season and are very excited to have all the clubbers with us again this fall!!
Our Cubbies will meet in the lower level of the church and our Sparks and T& T meet in the Brick Center. At 7:30 pm, parents should pick up their Cubbies in the lower level of the church and all Spark and T & T clubbers can be picked up at the Brick Center.
We will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the church and in our new Brick Center! AWANA Club Registration can be found on our home page of our website.
AWANA is open to the community! All kids PreK (3 years old) through those currently in 6th grade are welcome!
Programs:
- Cubbies (3-4yrs)(potty trained)
- Sparks (K-2nd grade)
- Truth & Training (3rd-6th grade)
Schedule:
- Game Time: Kids have a time of fun and learn sportsmanship and teamwork, no matter their athletic ability.
- Book Time: Kids work one-on-one with their Leaders and LITs (JH/HS leaders in training) memorizing, reciting, and applying Bible verses from their Handbooks.
- Large Group Time: Kids gather together for worship, a practical Bible message, awards and announcements. We have a lot of fun with special guests and theme nights, too!
AWANA was founded in 1941 and reaches more than 1.5 million children in 12,000+ churches in 100+ denominations every week. Clubs are also established in over 13,000 churches, schools, and orphanages in 100+ countries outside the U.S.
AWANA derives its name from the first letters of “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” from 2 Timothy 2:15:
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”
Children
We provide care for your little ones that is both safe and uniquely Christian.
Check-in
We teach your little ones during both services in order to enable you to participate in the worship service, a small group, and/or another ministry.
Each child begins at a check-in station to recieve a name tag and parent tag to present upon pickup.
Nursery
Our clean and safe nursery is located just outside our auditorium doors. Our nursery check-in location can be seen on our campus map.
Our nursery is available during all worship services.
Sunday School
Sunday School and an Adult Mortar Group are available at 9:00 am. There is a second Adult Mortar Group available at 10:30 am. Classes are available for those in Preschool (potty trained) through Adults.
Sunday School runs from September 7th, 2025 to Sunday, May 17th, 2026.
Children’s Church
During our 10:30 am worship service, children Pre-K through those currently in First Grade will sit with their families in the service until the praise and worship song just before the sermon when they are dismissed for age-appropriate worship on the lower-level in our Preschool Department.
Community Connections Carnival and Vacation Bible School
Our 2025 VBSwas held on June 16 - 20, 2025 from 9:00 to 11:30 am. Our VBS is for youth from preschool (potty-trained) through those just completing 6th grade this year. We are already in the planning stages for our 2026 Summer Vacation Bible School!
Our 2025 Community Connections Carnival was an awesome time on Monday, July 21st from 6 - 8 pm on the church campus. We had over 200 people on campus who enjoyed a free dinner (walking taco's and hot dogs) and plenty of fun and exciting games being held outside!! Families and kids of all ages have always loved this event! Be watching next summer for information on our 2026 Community Connections Carnival!
Youth Group
Times
Our youth group includes both Junior High and High School students. We meet on the first and third Sundays of each month from 12-2:00 pm during the school year. After we have lunch together, one of the groups will have a lesson while the other group plays a game. Halfway through, the groups will switch. Special events are planned during the summer months.
JR and SR HIGH BIBLE STUDY: Jr and Sr High Youth Bible Study will meet from 7 to 8 pm in the Adult SS Classroom in the church. The 2025 - 2026 study will begin on Wednesday, September 3rd from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the Adult SS Classroom at the church. All Jr and Sr High Youth are invited to join this weekly Bible Study led by Associate Pastor David Bogner.
Service Projects: Our teens do a service project every month to reach out into our community. Some of our activities include serving at the Rockford Rescue mission, visiting our widows, making blankets and collecting donations for the women's pregnancy center, serving at our local food bank (Bread of Life), caroling at Christmas time, and sending packages to our military and college students.
Other Activities - Youth Bible Study
Our teen Bible Study meets every Wednesday evening in the church sanctuary from 7 to 8 pm. We follow the Meridian school calendar.

During the summers and school breaks, we have Bible Studies, go to summer and winter camps, High School retreats, conferences and community activities. Our summer Bible Study will be held the first Wednesday (June 4th, July 2nd, and August 6th) at the Bogner Home in Stillman Valley.

Sunday Groups
FALL 2025:
Our Adult SS Classes, known as "MORTAR GROUPS" will be begin meeting on Sunday, September 7th, 2025. We will have two Mortar Groups meeting at 10:30 am during the month of September. One group will meet in the Adult SS Classroom at the church and another group will be in the lower level at the church. Adults are encouraged to attend either of the Mortar Groups!
Beginning in October, our 9:00 am Mortar Group meets in the Adult SS Classroom at the church. The 10:30 am Mortar Group meets in the Brick Center.
We call our Adult classes "MORTAR GROUPS" as this name fits with our emphasis that at the Red Brick Church we know God makes bricks with a building in mind (1 Peter 2:5).
Sunday School is also provided for children preschool through high school during the 9:00 am worship service.
Men
Men's Mortar Group
Our Men's Mortar Group meets monthly during the school year. We meet on the last Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the Brick Center. All men and invited and encouraged to attend our monthly meetings! Our first meeting in the fall will be on Thursday, September 18th in the Brick Center.

Women of the Word
The Tuesday evening “Women of the Word” study meets from 6:30 to 8:00 pm beginning Tuesday, September 9th in the Brick Center.
Moms and More
The THURSDAY morning “Mom’s and More” study meets from 9:00 to 10:30 am beginning on Thursday, September 11th in the Brick Center. Free childcare is provided for the Thursday morning study.
Both studies will be doing the "Navigating the Gospel Truth - A Guide to Faithfully Reading the Accounts of Jesus's Life". Workbooks can be purchased at the study, online when registering, or on your own. Both studies are open to all ladies in the community. Registration for either study can be found on the home page of our church website and also on our Red Brick Ladies and Church facebook pages. Please join us!
Seniors
Senior Fellowship
Our Senior Fellowship gets together on the 4th Tuesday of every month for breakfast at the Sunrise Restaurant in Byron at 9:00 am (weather permitting in the winter). This is open to anyone in our church family and community 55 years of age and older. Please feel free to join us when you are able.
We also have several inter-generational activities to bring our youth and seniors together.
Many of our small groups do not meet weekly during the summer.
