And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes. Matthew 7:28-29
At the Red Brick Church in Stillman Valley, we’re starting a new sermon series on the Sermon on the Mount on January 25. Expect to be astonished. That’s what happened when Jesus first preached the greatest sermon ever. The gospel of Matthew tells us that the crowds were overwhelmed because Jesus taught with such command.

Once Jesus preached it – and this is no exaggeration – the world was never the same.
Think of it. It would only take about 10 minutes to read the Sermon on the Mount aloud – – yet it includes the Beatitudes, the Lord’s Prayer, the Golden Rule, the admonition that no on can serve two masters, a major section on worry, and much more.
Someone might ask, “Two thousand years later, is the Sermon on the Mount still powerful?” And the answer is emphatically “yes.” It is God’s word and when it is proclaimed today in the power of the Holy Spirit lives are still changed.
Another person might ask, “If I hear that kind of preaching, won’t I just be weighed down by guilt.” No! Christ promised that his teaching is not burdensome. Rather, his yoke is easy and his burden is light (Matt 11:28-30). [inlinetweet prefix=”” tweeter=”” suffix=””]Those who prayerfully listen to Christ’s words and respond in faith find a freedom that they couldn’t otherwise imagine.[/inlinetweet]
Expect to be astonished and encouraged.
So join us at the Red Brick Church for this series beginning January 25. Our services are at 9:00AM and 10:30AM. We offer children’s Sunday School during the 9:00 hour and Children’s Church for third grade and under for the second service. There is a nursery both hours.
